CONFERENCIA INTERNACIONAL de SOCIOLOGÍA de las POLÍTICAS PÚBLICAS y SOCIALES

International Conference on Sociology of Public and Social Policies
PUBLIC AND SOCIAL POLICY AT A THE CROSSROADS: UNCERTAINTY, COMPLEXITY AND CHANGE

MAY 22-23, 2013

ESPAÑOL
We are living in difficult times, in which the economic crisis seems to justify the transmutation of public space and public and social policies as we understood them up until a few years ago. In this context of turbulence and uncertainty both confusion at the apparent loss of landmarks as well as fear of instability of everyday life multiply and, consequently, the outrage of citizens faced with various events.

In its turn, public space remains the physical and symbolic place to build a good society together, in that you can not leave common things to chance or the simplification of those who leave no room for the common good. The complexity of the elements and relationships that appear in the diverse public and social policies requires the attention of social sciences from a complex and non-reductionist viewpoint.

The goal and challenge of this conference is to offer opportunities for analysis, insight and understanding of the inextricable tangle of the effects of micro and macro decisions in the public sphere, from the social system where neither the causalities nor the origins of the current crisis can be easily identified. Public and social policies require special attention as an issue that affects all citizens.
